Heroes on the Water, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, that provides our HEROES an enjoyable FREE kayak fishing activity. HOW’s mission is to help our HEROES to relax, rehabilitate, and reintegrate into society through kayak fishing, spending time in the outdoors, networking and building comradeship with other HEROES.

Who is a HERO?:
Military Veterans (retired/separated), Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, First Responders (law enforcement, fire, and medical services) and their families.
Event Specific Information:
This fishing and kayak event will be held at Ballard Park, Melbourne, Florida. This is a city park with public access. Parking is first come first serve. There is a very active boat launch so please be cautious due to trailering and boat traffic. Look for our banner and canopy. We will launch from the shoreline.

Getting there:
Ballard Park, 924 Thomas Barbour Dr. Melbourne, Florida 32935
From Interstate 95, take exit 183 (Route 518 – W. Eau Galle Blvd.) and head east on FL-518 (W. Eau Galle Blvd.) for about 4.9 miles. At the intersection of US-1 (N. Harbor City Blvd.) turn left. As soon as possible merge into the left lane and travel for about 0.9 miles. Turn left on Thomas Barbour Dr. (Boathouse Discount Marine on your left). Travel for 0.5 miles you will enter the park and travel to the back of the park.
Rules:
HOW events are *** DRUG and ALCOHOL FREE *** and family friendly.
HEROES and guests are NOT allowed to be on or in a kayak(s) during the event without a designated HOW guide or required safety equipment. Everyone MUST wear a personal floatation device (PFD) the entire time while in/on a kayak.
Additional Information:
Water and ice and sports drinks will be provided along with a small lunch. You are welcome to bring additional food and non-alcoholic drinks for personal consumption.
Since this is a water-related event, we suggest you bring a dry set of clothing. Bring a lawn chair or something to sit on since many of our locations are primitive and may not have seating. Please bring your own sun protection lotion and bug spray.
Please be on time, as the weather or the tides could change our event. If you decide not to attend, please cancel your ticket (reservation) on the Eventbrite site. Also, advise our staff via email or text or Facebook messenger.
